Doha, June 24 (QNA) – The 1st Kayak Fishing Tournament organized by the Old Doha Port in cooperation with the Doha Marine Sports Club concluded on Saturday.
Ali Khaled Al Hamidi won the tournament’s title with a weight of 5.5 kilograms as a total catch over two days.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Executive Director of Old Doha Port Mohammed Abdulla Al Mulla expressed his satisfaction with the way the tournament was organized.
He added that the aim of the social responsibility program was to support Qatar’s various sectors and activities, especially those related to Qatari culture deeply connected to the coast and the sea.
Al Mulla indicated that the Kayak Fishing Tournament came in support of the Old Doha Port’s strategy to encourage marine tourism, attracting those interested in marine sports, which constitute a major part of things to do in Qatar. He also thanked Doha Marine Sports Club for their cooperation in making this tournament a success, considering this cooperation as being only the beginning in a series of cooperation to come in upcoming competitions and tournaments in the port.
