Doha, May 29 (QNA) – Qatar Calendar announced that the Red Planet/Mars will reach the farthest point in its orbit around the Sun Tomorrow evening 10th of the month of Dhu ‘Qa’dah 1444 H 30th May 2023, where Mars will be approximately 249.8 million kilometers from the Sun’s center. And about 43 million kilometers apart from Tuesday, June 21, 2022, When Mars was at the closest point of the sun on this day and was approximately 206.4 million kilometers from the center of the Sun.

Dr. Bashir Marzouq, an astronomer at Qatar Calendar House, explained that this phenomenon is an important astrological phenomenon, because Mars reaches the farthest point of the Sun almost once every two years.

Astronomers’ studies suggest that a significant change in the distance between the Martian site and the Sun when it reaches apogee and perigee points makes the Martian surface gain more solar energy. When it is located at the nearest point of the Sun rock bottom compared to the amount of energy it acquires, When located at the far point of the Sun apogee point, that amount is estimated at 31% of solar energy.

The astronomer added that during this phenomenon, Qatar’s population will be able to observe and see Mars with the naked eye up the western skyline, from sunset Tuesday to sunset Mars at 10:19 pm local Doha time.

The planet Mars is the astronomers’ first goal in studying the potential for life on planets, because it is very similar to the Earth, which increases their belief in the viability of its surface, thereby sending many spacecraft to study the details and composition of the Martian surface.

It is understood that Mars is the fourth most remote planet from the Sun, and Mars completes a full cycle around the Sun (year-long on Mars) approximately every 687 days, orbiting two moons: Phobos and Demos. (QNA)
